Guided Layout Duck Hunts

LAYOUT HUNTING

We offer Wisconsin guided duck hunts from layout boats as well as gunning out of the big boat with a blind, guided by U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain Matt Malyuk. We mostly hunt on Lake Superior, but we also offer open water hunts on the Lake Pepin portion of the Mississippi River during the last two weeks of the season. Hunts can be booked from October through early December.

We have 3 Mighty Layout Boys layout boats - a one-man Classic, a one-man Super Mag, and a two-man Kalash Legend II. The tender boat is a 20 foot SeaArk powered by a 115 4-stroke Yamaha.

The number of hunters will determine which boat or boats we will be using as well as the size of the decoy spread. We use a variety of species in our decoy spread depending on the birds in the area to ensure better gunning.

Bluebills, Redheads, Buffleheads and Goldeneyes are the main duck species harvested but in a typical year we shoot a dozen or more different waterfowl species including Ringers, Canvasbacks, all three Scoter species, Oldsquaw, Greenwing Teal, Mallards, and the occasional Canada Goose.

50% deposit is required to book a hunt and must be received within 10 days of booking. Deposits are non-refundable within 14 days prior to hunt.

Hunt hours are 1 hour before shooting time to 12:00pm.

Cancellations:

Captain Matt reserves the right to cancel the hunt at any time due to weather or other events which pose a safety issue. If cancelled, we will attempt to reschedule. If we are unable to reschedule, your deposit will be refunded.
